On September 29, The Society of Innovators of Northwest Indiana, an organization within Ivy Tech Community College, and the ArcelorMittal Global Research and Development Center collaborated for the 22nd annual Innovators Café, which was held at ArcelorMittal in East Chicago.
The event served as a luncheon and panel discussion of this year’s theme ‘Steel Is Our Future!’. Innovators met to discuss how their organizations are using ArcelorMittal steel in their creations.
A wide variety of innovations in steel were presented at the event, including a material to create safer highway medians to prevent high-speed rollover accidents in the future.
“To rub elbows with people who are known globally when it comes to research and innovation, that’s a whole different ballgame,” said Ivy Tech East Chicago campus president Louie Gonzalez of the event. “And to know that it is right in our backyard, I find that fascinating.”
Those in attendance also got an exclusive tour of the Research and Development facility on the ArcelorMittal campus.
