aqUV Purification Systems – Society of Innovators Members 2016 – 2017


Daniel Blood, Ph.D., associate professor, Valparaiso University, co-founded a water purification system to support his mission work in Haiti. Called aqUV Purification System, this uses UVC light to kill bacteria and viruses. The system also includes wireless charging. The goal is to empower Haitians with training and tools to manufacturer aqUV bottles on location, said nominator Gregory Duncan, Ph.D. A local fabricator provided a solar-powered 3D printer to make the bottles. Proceeds in the U.S. help support providing the components. His co-founders include Erica Gonzaga and Dr. Rob Damitz. Learn more at
