The Society of Innovators of Northwest Indiana is an organization that honors creativity and innovation in Northwest Indiana. In fact, it is the only organization in the state to recognize particularly innovative individuals and teams on a regional basis.
The Society was founded in 2005 by the Chancellor of Ivy Tech Community College Northwest, J. Guadalupe Valtierra, in an effort to promote creativity and innovation. The concept quickly spread throughout the entire Northwest Indiana region.
The Society is the major project of the Gerald I. Lamkin Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center which serves as the hub for creativity and innovation at Ivy Tech Community College in the seven counties served by The Society.
Currently, The Society has more than 300 members and 600 associate members who represent all areas of innovation and entrepreneurship. These members have hatched innovative ideas such as new teaching methods using video games, innovations in manufacturing and much more.
Individual innovators as well as teams of innovators can be nominated for membership in The Society by anyone who has knowledge of his or her implemented innovation.
The mission of The Society of Innovators of Northwest Indiana is to cultivate creativity and innovation as a growth strategy by discovering, educating, celebrating and honoring our most innovative people across our seven counties.
